Curriculum
The YEP follows the curriculum set by the Thai Ministry of Education, while incorporating aspects of international education systems. Traditional Thai subjects such as Thai language, art, culture and values are a vital part of the program. A greater emphasis is placed on subject taught in English. These include English, Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and Computer science as well as foundation subjects such as Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Physical Education. Core subjects are taught both in English and Thai. In keeping with the Buddhist ideals of the Yupparaj Wittalayai school Buddhism is studied by all students. The result of this unique combination is an education system that challenges students to achieve their best and prepare them for advanced study and future success.
Our EP has proven to be so successful that Thailand’s Basic Education Commission has selected our school to participate in a new project called “Education Hub” which will make the Yupparaj English Program an education center for the Northern region. The transition into this International Program started in 2010; its purpose is to provide an complete international secondary education for Thai and Non-Thai residents who wish to send their children to a school in a Thai environment.
At all levels, students learn using up-to-date and authentic teaching materials sourced from major educational publishers around the world. After their time at YEP, when our students finally leave Secondary Six, we expect them to be ready and able to pass the university entrance exam together with TOEFL/IELTS and start courses in their chosen fields at universities all over the world.
